In game tools (bots)

Post by Elizafanta » Tue Oct 24, 2006 9:13 am

Thought I'd make a little post about the in game bots that I use everyday, and some of there functions. If you know of other bots or the other functions that these bots provide and you find useful please add them to this topic :)

helpbot
lets start with something simple; information about your character that you might not know, lets do this for a level 35 character:
chat line wrote:To [helpbot]: level 35
[Helpbot]: L 35: Team 26-48 PvP 27-45 42400 XP Missions 24, 26, 28, 29, 31, 35, 38, 42, 45, 52, 62 (2 tokens)
A quick explanation of what helpbot sent us back,

At level 35 we can team with people lvl 26 to 48 and still get xp
(you can team with anyone of any level, but you might not get any xp, best to check)

You can attack / be attacked by people lvl 27 to 45.

You need 42400xp to advance to the next level

If you move the difficulty slider on Mission terminals you will be able to generate missions of quality level 24,26,28 ... 45,52,62 (Important when Blitzing / clicksaving for a particular item)

And finally, every time you gain a token for finishing a mission it's value to you is 2 ( the value of a token increases with your title level)

The next function of helpbot (and more than helpbot offer this function) is something called OE or over equipping.

Lets say you have weapon skill of 150, you want to put the best weapon on that you can so;
chat line wrote: To [helpbot]: oe 150
[Helpbot]: With a skill of 150, you will be OE above 188 requirement. With a requirement of 150 skill, you can have 120 without being OE
that means you can weild a wepon with requirements of skill=188 and not suffer a penalty to speed/accuracy/damage with your skill of 150, anything higher than 188 requirement and there will be a penalty to using it.

Itemsbot

Heard about that armor everyones wearing at the moment ? saw someone refer to carb something ? want some for yourself ? well itemsbot can help there, lets start by sending it a tell

chat line wrote:To [itemsbot]: carb
[Itemsbot]: Your query carb has returned 79 results
2x Layer Carbon-Notum Alloy Blade [1] [200]
2x Layer Carbon-Notum Alloy Rod [1] [200]
4x Layer Carbon-Notum Alloy Blade [1] [200]
4x Layer Carbon-Notum Alloy Rod [1] [200]
8x Layer Carbon-Notum Alloy Blade [1] [200]
[Itemsbot]: More Results »» Click to View
79 results ? well fortunately itemsbot has put a lot of clickable links in its tell, the "click to view" item pops up a box with 79 items in it, with pictures. Within that list theres a picture of some brown body armor

Carbonum Breastplate [1] [200]

Now we have a full name, and itemsbot has told us it comes in quality level 1 through to 200. lets try ql50 and see what we get.
chat line wrote:To [itemsbot]: 50 Carbonum Breastplate
[Itemsbot]: Your query Carbonum Breastplate has returned 4 results
Carbonum Breastplate [1] [50] [200]
Etched Pattern for Carbonum Breastplate [1] [50] [200]
Omni Carbonum Breastplate [1] [50] [200]
Storm Carbonum Breastplate [1] [50] [200]
Thats still a lot of results, but there is now a clickable link to ql50 Carb armor in there, which when clicked pops up this window
info window wrote:Carbonum Breastplate
Quality level: 50
Requirements:
Wear:Stamina from 151
Agility from 123

Location: Chest
Modifier:
NanoC. Init. 3
Max Nano 41
Max NCU 3
Disease AC 252
Radiation AC 126
Chemical AC 303
Fire AC 252
Cold AC 252
Energy AC 126
Imp/Proj AC 252
Melee/ma AC 303

Description:
Carbonum Plate offers excellent protection against chemical attacks and most other physical attacks. It tends to be susceptible to energy type attacks. Carbonum has the ability to absorb a large amount of the notum particles normally found in the air on Rubi-Ka. Because of the nanobot-stablizing effects of raw notum, the armor is also regarded as a nice auxiliary tool for users of nano technology.
and if the requirements to wear are to low or to high, we can refine the search by putting in higher/lower ql values in our tell to itemsbot until we find the right ql for us.

Recipebot

This bot has lots of functions, so Im only going to cover one of them here. To start with;
chat line wrote:To [recipebot]: recipe

that clickable link takes us to this popup
info window wrote:The good old recipes of Mother Bea Beaexn: Huge thx to all men using report command, allowing me to turn Recipebot a better tool It`s best to use this book with AO in windowed mode because of external web pages. chat line wrote:To [Recipebot]: show me menu 8

And thats a basic introduction to bots, recipebot has one more very useful function, but the formatting is completely messed up when copy / pasting from AO :/

perhaps a more knowledgable AO player / forum poster could finish this recipebot introduction by showing how its used to find out what you need to make carbonium Armor ?

If you know of neat tricks or cool bots please tell us about them and how you use them. What in game (funcom or player made/run) tools do you use ?

Nice work Fanta! You might add the aggdef command to helpbot. Not sure how many people use it, but I use it quite often (especially after equiping a new weapon).

The command is entered like this: /tell helpbot aggdef 2.0 3.0 600

2.0 is where you would put the attack speed of the weapon
3.0 is where you would put the recharge time
600 is your init

This will tell you what init you need for that weapon to perform at a 1/1 speed at full def and will also tell you where to put your aggdef slider to maintain 1/1 at your current init while adding the most defensive bonus.

It works the same for Nano init. It will tell you how much you need for instacast at full def and what you should put your slider at currently to achieve instacast.

There are some other commands that helpbot performs (like whois), and several others that aren't used quite as often.

I like the whois variant whoisall for showing the same charname on all 3 servers if it exists on all of them (doesn't report on Test server chars)

Good stuff itninja and Boinky, thats the kind of thing I was hoping would be added.

Thanks for the sticky Pnunu, and thanks for the vote of confidence jato and Weeping Willow ;)

Now that this is attached to the top of this area, Im going to do a bit more of a serious search for bot things that inhabit AO, and maybe finish the recipebot example (darn formating not carrying over from AO to windows), if noone else does :P
