AOMainframe has been down for, what... a couple/few months now? And, since the Guide to GA-Friendly Items referred to in this thread a few times was on that website, is there an alternate source or substitute for it?

I had a vague memory of such a thread appearing here on AOFroobs, but a couple of searches failed to turn up anything resembling my memory.

It would be nice to have a current link in this thread to that information, in case AOMainframe fails to return soon, or never.
Regards,

Actually, it may be updated soon. For now, I'd suggest you make a separate thread about it on the PvP forum to keep this thread clean.

Okay, so when I said "Soon" in the above post, I actually meant "Four months from now". See if you can spot the new section without cheating and looking at the changelog post!

If I made any horrible mistakes feel free to point them out and I'll ignore you try to fix them.

Tarradax,

I want to commend you for your EXCELLENT Guide. 4 years later it is still very relevant, and a great overview of the Fixer profession and what to do to better the players experience of the game. Without trying to be the only way to do things like a few of the other guides.

This Guide has led me to try a Fixer (I have run mostly Doctors and Martial Artists). After reading this I have a feeling I'm going to like Fixers a lot.

Thank You Very Much

Reviving an old thread, but I have something to contribute. You should add in the sections for levels 1-24 and 25-49 that at level 15 you can now receive composite buffs from others and that at 25 you can cast the 1 hour composite buffs available in the general nanos terminal. With the exception of the composite meta, engi, and trader buffs, composite buffs have been froob friendly for a while now. This includes composite attribute, composite nano, composite melee, and composite ranged to name a few.

You can have a composite buffs from the general nano terminal cast on you at any level (not just at 15). I cast them on my level 1's all the time. The only limit is 25 to cast.

This guide... still so relevant!

I'm going to drop this in here, an older thread from the official forums but shows a breakdown of damage outputs from various Fixer weapons for comparison;

9 years! Seriously. It has been NINE YEARS. If I had a kid when I wrote the first part of the guide, he would probably be old enough to play AO by now.
Also, I fixed some bad grammar that somehow snuck in. Don't blame me, I only buffed perception temporarily for the scope.

Changes introduced with 18.7-18.8 patches

Post by stodge » Tue Feb 10, 2015 12:39 am

(This is a work in progress)
Trying to collect the changes introduced for Fixer Profession with 18.7-18.8 patches. I will try to ask informations in game to Full paid fixers about the percs and paid only nano lines as i can't have access to them.

Table of Contents:

-[1.0]Fixer Profession perks changes
-[2.0]Fixer Research Proc Changes
-[3.0]Fixer Nano Lines Changes
  • [3.1]Fixer Evac. (self/team)
  • [3.2]Grid Armor
-[3.3]The Fixer Shop

[1.0]Fixer Profession perks changes

Fixers now has access to the Careful in Battle Perk line instead of the Defensive Stance Perk line, which has been removed.
Shortened recharge of Reinforce Slugs

[2.0]Fixer Research Proc Changes

Underground Suture: Increased tick rate
Fish in a Barrel: Changed to type 1
Escape the System: Increased to 10% offensive proc
Fighting Chance: Increased to +50 damage
Backyard Bandages: Changed to Type 2
Bending the Rules: Increased to +85 damage
Luck's Calamity: Changed to type 1
Slip Them A Mickey: Increased to +130 damage, changed to type 2

[3.0]Fixer Nano Lines Changes

Fixers should have gotten a new nano to spawn Cluster Bullets & Homing Permorpha Bullets.

Fixer B&E buffs will no longer buff perception. (These values have been moved to other nano lines.)
Fixer Perception buff should now increase the target's perception skill by 240 points.
Fixer Sneak attack buff should now target's Sneak Attack skill by 70 points.
Added nano to summon boxes of ammunition
Shortened duration of Perk Reinforce Slugs

[3.1]Fixer evac. line changes
Added new self and team Fixer-only meeps
Fixer emergency grid nano programs have now been given a line cooldown, 20 minutes for the team nano and 15 minutes for the self nano.

[3.2]Grid Armor Changes
The grid armor can now be used in the Shadowlands, but no longer provides any nano resistance. The amount of AAD gained from the Careful in battle line has been removed from the grid armor.

[3.3]The Fixer Shop

The Fixer Shop is no more in game. Most of the stuff that was sold there can now be bought from the ICC's (Fair Trade) found in neutral cities, and is sold in different QLS up till QL200. Following is a list explaining where to look for a specific item.
  • ImageImage Cluster Bullets & Homing Permorpha Bullets : they are now summoned with a newly introduced Nano Crystal (check section [3.0] for more information).
  • Image Hacker Tool : buyable in ICC's tech supplies booth.
  • Image Agent Gear: Kevlar Wool Balaclava : buyable in ICC's armor booth.
  • Image Large Sparkle-Plate: buyable in ICC's armor booth.
  • Image Pick-a-Finger : buyable in ICC's armor booth.
  • Image Nanobot Factory Unit : buyable in ICC's accessories booth.
  • Image Soltoyz Intimate Helper : buyable in ICC's armor booth.
  • Image Wet Anti-Radiation Body
  • Image Wet Anti-Radiation Sleeves
  • Image Implant Disassembly Unit : buyable in ICC's pharmacy.
  • Image Worn ICC Bodyguard Cloak

Items that used to check for NanoFocusLevel to determine if they could be used with grid Armor have now been updated. These items will now wither be possible to equip with grid armor or not.
Restock Special Ammo will call down ammo based on the Burst skill of the Fixer
no more fixer shop.

They took out the Fixer shop? This makes me sad, I mean it wasn't like there was anything drastically awesome in there, but it was a uniquely profession defining element. :(
