Mercenaries Raid

Post by Medicaid » Wed Nov 11, 2015 8:04 am

I've been doing Mercenaries raids with my Shade and Keeper over the past few weeks. It would appear, although I can't verify, that Ian Warr is more dangerous the more mercenaries you don't kill ie Nelly, Patricia, Ris, and Peter. I had more instances of dying when fighting Ian Warr first before killing Nelly or Patricia. Has anyone else had a similar experience or was I just unlucky those times I died?

It's hard to give a yes or no on this, but personally I've never noticed a difference or heard/read about it.

It would be interesting to run a damage dumper and see if there's a significant difference in his hit-miss ratio on you, or the average damage per hit. Then you could know for sure :-)

I ran Mercs again last night and did Ian Warr straight away without killing any other Mercs. It seems I had bad luck the other few times because I was able to survive and kill him. He gets me pretty close at times, but I don't think it matters whether you kill adds or Ian first.

I can second that I have not felt any difference based on the order. But now that I look at my historic logs there is something interesting going on. Following is the damage from Ian Warr to the main tank, three first ones are same tank from three different raids. I didn't check the order of kills but in the third one was a raid to take down Ian and only he was pulled. In the three other at least some other mercs were dispatched first. ANd obviously in two first cases fight ended up with a wipe.

Fourth one is different tank, who obviously is lacking some crit reduction :-).

Ian Warr, dmg: 717403 hits: 326
energy 15% of damage with 56 hits of 1031-2831 average 1929
energy (nano) 1% of damage with 8 hits of 665-665 average 665
melee 77% of damage with 233 hits of 137-3816 average 2386
melee (nano) 7% of damage with 29 hits of 252-2090 average 1661

Ian Warr, dmg: 181387 hits: 84
chemical 11% of damage with 14 hits of 946-1792 average 1471
energy (nano) 1% of damage with 2 hits of 665-665 average 665
melee 79% of damage with 60 hits of 1360-3658 average 2403
melee (nano) 8% of damage with 8 hits of 1797-2027 average 1911

Ian Warr, dmg: 3460750 hits: 1645
energy 16% of damage with 312 hits of 356-2836 average 1739
energy (nano) 1% of damage with 57 hits of 665-722 average 678
melee 75% of damage with 1119 hits of 104-3986 average 2328
melee (nano) 8% of damage with 157 hits of 252-2369 average 1747

Ian Warr, dmg: 2345334 hits: 1021
chemical 12% of damage with 167 hits of 1258-2190 average 1724
chemical (crit) 1% of damage with 8 hits of 1934-2284 average 2045
energy (nano) 1% of damage with 42 hits of 665-665 average 665
melee 77% of damage with 703 hits of 1761-4119 average 2570
melee (crit) 1% of damage with 8 hits of 2709-4149 average 3322
melee (nano) 8% of damage with 93 hits of 268-2285 average 1934

The interesting thing is the chemical or energy attack that seems to be random which is used. But everything else seems consistent to me.

Nice logs Lusto! It may be coincidence, but I think from here on out I'm going to take Patricia down before Ian. It only adds another 10 minutes or so to the fight. Thanks for the data.

Back before the server merge, Mercs was a regular froob event. The raid group had no problem with Patricia, but we saved Ian Warr for last and often wiped or timed out on him. Ian Warr is the toughest Merc.

Seems if you pull Ian 2-3 times, run away and let him reset, then come back and fight he's a much weaker opponent. It may have nothing to do with his adds as it turns out.
