Battle Suit Project

Post by Parkko » Sun Mar 11, 2007 9:48 am

Hi there, i need your help/advice on a project i want to do, i dont see much people using Battle Suit (on all my gaming time, i only see 2 or 3 people using them) and i know that kinda crap armor (especially the normal battle suit who have somewhat nice ac in proj/melee/energy but a big hole in fire/cold/poison/radiation/chemical/whatever i miss)

the reason that i want a soldier for do that, is i can "patch" the hole of the armor by the very good soldier AC buff, and at higher level (if i get there) i would like to check for that Charred Abandon Chassis (wich with a build i try, i could get 9-10k in all AC)

now, i would know wich Battle Suit i should roll (unfortunately, i cant get the Omni-Pol Battle Suit wich is the better for AC...im clan) i curently gonna try to get a hand on some of the Scorpiod Battle suit (they add weapon skill and just have hole in chemical/poison AC) but they are level locked, i also like to see what you have to say over that idea and ill be open to any advice/proposition.

Main reason not to use normal battlesuits, aside from the whole AC thing, is the massive nanocost addition. Even the Assault-Issue Omni-Pol Elite Battle Suit which is the best of them all when it comes to ACs has a +50% nanocost penalty at QL200. Not to mention the evades and runspeed penalties... To cut it short, there's no reason to use a battlesuit until you can get a CaC because the CaC doesn't share the problems I mentioned above.

the main reason why any soldier would wanna wear a battle suit is cuz of CaC

http://auno.org/ao/db.php?id=206136

But the thing about battlesuits...including CaC: is that you can wear a full set of ljotur's with it. Yep...CAC with ljoturs...probably one of the best end-game setups for froobs

Here is the stats for the whole thing with Rust-pitted rings and 1750 board

I've heard that has zoning problems, have you actually tried it?

I must say that I have hard time declaring CAC + Ljotur combo a "top endgame combo". You'll lose Kaehler Sleeves, MotR, VTE, rings of luck / power, Notum Infused Kevlar Armor Pants, Dchest/DB commander breastplate, Sentinel/Brood champion gauntlets, reflect/IS bracers...
AC is nice in that combo, yes, and it has some nice AAO, but +dmg isn't too good, and the other mods aren't anything special.
Nice stuff? Yes, one of the best? No, don't really think so.

And, as always that's my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

well, its depend on what you want to do, CaC + Ljoturs is sure a nice High AC end armor, but if you want to go damage its sure that CaC suck, but still, its cheaper than get all the fancy stuff for lot'sa dmg

Agree. CAC & Ljotur is nice - for Froobs - between level 160 and ~175 (if you can get it, full set of Ljotur would be expensive). But later there are too many nice Items / Armor Parts you would like to use...and you cant´t wearing the CAC as it is Sozial Armor.

First off, screw battlesuits, the nanocost addition will _kill_ you. Infact you may even end up not being able to cast some nanos, things like reflects (includes TMS) use up massive amounts of nano, and the nanocost add could result in a total nanocost greater than your whole nano pool.

Secondly, CAC is nice, especially for soldiers like mine who are neutral and have no token board nor AR sleeves to use. CAC gives me a nice bonus to AAO (+100), NCU (+75), health (ugh, hmm, a couple hundred :P) and stupidly high ACs (it's fun to see mobs doing min damage, however at times that is 1500+ even with RRFE, doh!). I wouldn't use it as endgame gear, because I can halfway compensate the AAO bonus (if the new token boards will be accessible by froobies this is even less of a problem), the NCU will suffer minorly, the health bonus will be much bigger and ACs, well, I will be ok and versus these 1500+ mobs the major problem is the doc (Sfery is slowly getting there, rawr!). In return I get the option to pack my soldier full of +dmg equipment. To put that into numbers: With the planned endgame gear it will be about 200 damage more each bullet compared to her current CAC setup using Boosted Hellguns. Froobie soldiers get better and better with higher levels :D

Thirdly, the beets (= Ljotur boots) are the key to stay halfway sane operating the CAC together with yalms and other things.

I was talking to orgmate that had CAC and ljoturs and he tried putting his ljoturs but he said he couldn't put on... is there some special order it has to be put on or did FC fully nerf ljoturs? if someone is brave enough to try it please let me know if they still work cause i had a lot riding on that combo of CAC, ljoturs, and rust rings.

Were you using another item that doesn't work with social armour? Like the CoH collar or some rings/shoulderpads?

Yeah, especially since there's a thread for the CaC.
