Of Dynabosses and their loot...

Got something related to in-game that doesn't really fit elsewhere? This is the place.

Of Dynabosses and their loot...

Postby DocJones on Sun Aug 05, 2007 7:01 am

Hi!

Just doing some 50ish Dynabosses lately (yes, for the pump trainee to buy my yalm) and was wondering, if anyone already noticed, that the amount of items to be looted seems to reduce with the time it takes for you to kill the boss?

Pretty unfair, since i am killing 50ish dynas since level 30 - where it takes ages to kill them. After i killed him, i constantly got only one item to loot. now, as i am at the early 40ies, i get three items to loot.

Anyone noted that behavior already?

I'm not sure how exactly it works, but I see it on high level dyna's as well. Sometimes you get one with 15k health, an other time one with 400k health. The extremely low HP ones seem to drop less stuff for me.

I don't know if it's related to how fast you kill it though; I can one-hit kill the backyard dyna and get 7 items. Perhaps it has something to do with the HP (relative to his normal HP for that level)? Or Anarchy has some other way to measure 'how hard' a boss is?

To me the loot seems pretty random, from one item to a load of usually crap items. What I find more frustrating are the HPs of some dynabosses. I checked into the last "high HP" level 200 dynaboss: I did over 1.6 mil damage on it (in 37.5 mins). WTS!

I noticed something a bit different, as I have killed numerous 150+ dynas and only found one crappy item.

But for me, it seems to happen more with dynas that don't have any minions.

This is just a guess but how hard it is for its lvl? like if its lvl 40 but is as hard as a lvl 50 or 60... think of the 40 as some kind of dyna twink maybe... kinda of like what saavick said:

I personally think it's random. I've killed dynas which had health bars longer than my arm and took forever to kill and had one item drop. I've one-shot killed leet dynas and had a plethora of items drop. There would have to be some sort of accurate accounting of damage (easy enough to do with damage dumpers) and an accurate listing of items that drop, along with level range of the dyna and the looter.

It common belief that the loot is generated at spawn. Therefore killing time would have no effect on the loot.

The number of lootable items on team mission bosses seems to be generated at the time when the mission is pulled (more people in team=more loot on boss), so I guess it's at the time of spawn in the case of dynas and at the time of mish pulling in case of missions. That would make sense, in a way the mission and it's mobs are spawned when the mission is being pulled.

Its absolutely random - i was a pure dyna hunter for like 3 full months last year and i did all kinds of dynas with my fixer: 40ish - 190ish.
Loot is random but the only thing ive noticed (or at least i think so) is that the low HP ones "usually" have crap loot, nothing special as loot...
And about the high HP's ones they seem to have somehow better loots, especially on nanos.
Thats all but the number of items u get from high or low HP's ones is not related to the killing time.[/i]

I am sorry, but i must disagree:

IMHO loot is generated as soons as you open the corpse container. I noticed a short delay whenever i opened a self-slain dyna corpse. Whenever i opened an already dead corpse from another player (yeeees, that is ninja-ing ;) ) the delay is gone, which leads me to the conclusion, that phats are generated "on request".

Just my expierience... flames welcome ;)

problem is ... no on knows ... but all guess :)

all the combination of dynal level / aura / type / time it took to kill have shown me 1 thing ...

there's exactly 76,47% chance that it's random :)

From a programmers point of view, it only makes sense to generate the phats after the death. the very moment when an object (aka dynaboss) is being turned into a container lying on the floor you can fill this container.

However: it is just as weepingwillow says:
